Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society / USA Today
About This Opportunity
The Phi Theta Kappa All-USA Academic Team is the nation's most prestigious recognition program for two-year college students, co-sponsored by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society. Each year, 20 students are selected as the All-USA Academic Team (1st, 2nd, and 3rd teams of 20 students total) from thousands of applications. First Team members receive up to $5,000 in scholarship funding; Second and Third Team members also receive significant recognition and smaller awards. PTK membership is required to apply. Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) has an active PTK chapter — students who are members are directly eligible to apply. The competition includes an academic portfolio, essays, and transcripts. All-USA winners are featured in USA Today and gain recognition that significantly boosts transfer applications to 4-year colleges. Successful candidates demonstrate intellectual engagement, academic excellence, and community leadership. The application deadline is typically in November for the current academic year. Students at IWCC interested in PTK membership should contact the IWCC PTK chapter advisor.
